Facilities at Camp Barnard

Rentals at Camp Barnard range from backcountry tenting to bunkhouses, indoor plumbing and large commercial kitchens. 

At the centre of camp is Young Lake, a 17-acre lake with swimming area, boat house with watercraft rentals.  A picnic area and fire pit are located on the beach and offer a spectacular view.  The lake is stocked with coho fry and trout by the Sooke Salmon Enhancement Society, bring your fishing rod!

Canoe rentals and swimming times should be booked in advance to ensure availability.

Campers in the main developed part of camp can take advantage of Rogers / Shaw Go WiFi.

Kitchens & Lodges

Keego Kitchen - Kaa & Sona Cabins

Kitchen has a capacity of up to 100 people, with walk-in cooler, 12 propane burners, grill, double ovens, deep pan washing sinks, extensive food prep areas, freezer, two sets of triple dish washing sinks and cooks washroom with shower.

There are 12 cabins, each has 8 bunks, 3 of which are divided in half and are wheelchair accessible.

Mor Kitchen - Mang & Rama Cabins

Kitchen has a capacity of up to 100 people, with walk-in cooler, 12 propane burners, grill, double ovens, deep pan washing sinks, extensive food prep areas, freezer, two sets of triple dish washing sinks.

McPherson & Totem Lodges

The lodges are located at the highest point in the camp, and offer a quiet and contained setting.

Totem can accommodate 40 campers. The playing field offers loads of space for tenting.

McPherson has a capacity of up to 70 people, with fridge & freezer, 6 propane burners, grill, double ovens, deep pan washing sinks, extensive food prep areas, freezer, one set of triple dish washing sinks.

Keego Annex

The Keego Annex, next to Keego Kitchen, has two bunks, a pull out bed, 3 piece bathroom and small desk area. This building can function as an awesome place for your cooks to sleep or as a first aid room.

Frontcountry Tenting

Thompson Field

The largest frontcountry tenting area with lots of trees for tarping, campfire circles, water standpipes, grey water pits and washroom block. Thompson Field Shelter is 30x20 with counters, wood burning stove, and picnic tables. The shelter has power, but no appliances are installed.

No vehicles are permitted in Thompson Field.

Mt Bluff Trailhead

This is an open area along the main road through camp at the Mount Bluff trailhead. It is an excellent spot for overflow tent camping from Mang and Rama cabin circles or for small groups. There is a small campfire circle, water standpipe on the road and Thompson Field washroom is easily accessible. (up to 30 people)

Creekside

Located just below Thompson Field, this private camp site makes a cosy location for small to medium size groups. With a campfire circle and lots of areas for tents, it shares the Thompson Field washroom block and water standpipes on the main road. (up to 30 people)

Yukon

Skeena

Mackenzie
