Christmas Tree Sales

Plans are in place to once again fill the garden lot at View Royal Can Tire with beautiful Cowichan Valley trees!  PLEASE take a shift-our customers love to see the kids assisting.  Not only is this a great way for our groups to support Camp Barnard; your youth can also and log some service time!

The funds raised will be used directly to support operations and development at Scouts Canada-owned Camp Barnard in Sooke. This 251 acre camp is used by Scouting and many other youth groups.

We are so grateful to our friends at View Royal Canadain Tire for providing their Garden Centre to us for this fundraiser.  What great community support!!

Polar Bear Swim

Camp Barnard Polar Bear Swim

Yes, it is time... to start training for the POLAR BEAR SWIM! What better way to show your love and support of Camp Barnard?
The funds raised from this event will go towards repairs, maintenance, and on-going development at camp. Don’t think about how cold the water of the lake might be on New Years Day; think about the heated washroom building next to Mor, hot showers at Keego bathroom, the nice new porch at McPherson Lodge! These are the kinds of camp improvemments your fundraising supports!
Ways to particpate in the Polar Bear Swim;
  • Sponsor someone to take the plunge on January 1st.
  • Sponsor someone to not swim… total pledges in the “don’t have to swim column” allows the participant to avoid a refreshing dip in the lake if they want to… but why would they want to do that?
  • Challenge others to take part… who can raise the most money to support Camp Barnard?
  • Can’t swim? Bring your canoe or kayak out.
  • Out of town on January 1st? why not make a direct donation to Camp Barnard or sponsor someone else to swim? Or take the plunge wherever you are!

Willy has agreed to host a swim at Camp Barnard again this year, and will reserve the right to postpone the swim if conditions dictate. Please let Willy know if you will be swimming at camp  Everyone taking part at camp is responsible for their own first aid. We'll get a bonfire going and heat up the hot chocolate.

The badge for this event is a beauty and each year that you participate, you will get an additional year bar.
See you on January 1, 2018!

Apple Day

Apple Day is a Scouting tradition that started right here in Canada! Through Apple Day youth receive donations from the public and present an apple in appreciation. Each Group selects sites to canvass including neighbourhood stores and other busy areas.

Money raised during Apple Day is shared between Scout groups and Camp Barnard.  The group portion supports youth and their programs; the Camp Barnard portion helps to maintain this great facility while keeping camp fees affordable for groups using the facility.  Aside from the important fundraising aspect of Apple Day, it is a great opportunity to show our neighbours that Scouting is thriving in the community and is worthy of support.
