Camp Barnard is located in Sooke on Vancouver Island

Camp Barnard is a 250 acre camp open year round for youth and adult organizations to deliver outdoor programs. We provide kitchens and cabins to wilderness camping for overnight or day use in a safe yet challenging environment.

Camp Barnard has been providing a nurturing environment for people to learn new skills and experience nature and their place in it for more than 75 years.

Camp History

In February 1945 Senator Barnard gifted 2 parcels of land and his hunting lodge to the Victoria Council of Scouts Canada.  This amounted to some 200 acres of second growth forest and included the 17 acre Young Lake.  Currently Camp Barnard comprises 251 acres and is used year-round.
